[PRESS RELEASE] Digitalization as a Solution: Empowering and Enhancing Indonesia’s Tourism Sector with Atourin | DECISION #6

As a country that is rich with a lot of culture, natural resources, and unique wealth in every region, it’s an undoubtful thing that tourism is a superior sector in boosting Indonesia’s economy. To utilize these advantages, the emphasis on innovation and collaboration should be integrated with digital technology to grow Indonesia’s tourism potential, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. To address more about this discourse, CfDS has invited Atourin, an end-to-end tourism service, through Decision #6 entitled “Knowing Digital Tourism: Promising Solutions After the Pandemic”. Benarivo Triadi Putra (CEO Atourin) was present as the main speaker, guided by Riska Gabriella (Social Media Assistant CfDS) as the moderator.

When it comes to the topic of tourism in Indonesia, Benarivo stated that local tourists still experience difficulty in finding the right and exact tourism destinations. Even though we are connected widely through the internet, planning a trip still takes a long time. Furthermore, the fact that Indonesia has the potential to suffer a loss of USD 18 billion due to a lack of digital awareness is concerning. Not only to mention, this also has several negative impacts to the tourism industry.

Atourin emerges as an answer to this issue, not only limited to becoming a hub for integrated tourist information but also developing tourism potential through digitization and community empowerment. Atourin will help tourists to make their trip itinerary, provide an integrated information on tourist attractions and local tour guides. Even for partners, Atourin facilitates an easy and fast-based service through the feature of the Visitor Management System.

“Through an end-to-end tourism service, Atourin tries to empower and develop the tourism sector in Indonesia, not only for tourists but also the actors behind this sector,” said Benarivo.

Due to the lack of qualified support in infrastructure and human resources, Benarivo admitted that the digitization process in tourism needs to be carried out step by step. Currently, one of Atourin’s focuses lies on developing several priority tourism areas that are considered qualified to conduct digital tourism. However, the participation of all stakeholders is still needed to build public awareness of the importance of digital technology in various aspects of life, one of which is tourism.

“Even though it is being carried out step by step, we do not see this as an obstacle, but an opportunity to get to know one by one the potential of the tourism sector we have in Indonesia. Let’s hope this can be a promising solution to enhance Indonesia’s tourism sector,” said Benarivo.
