Center for Digital Society (CfDS) is a research center, under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, committed to delve more on the developing issues of the digital society. In 2016, CfDS was founded by a group of academicians concerned about the impacts that this digital era can potentially bring to the economic, social, and political aspects of our society. Through the years, CfDS has accomplished numerous milestones for its persistence in creating an innovative, productive and influential digital society in Indonesia. In 2018, the World Summit on the Information Society 2018 awarded this research center as the champion for the category of “The role of government and all stakeholders in the promotion of ICTs for development”. Up until now, CfDS continues to develop its vision to solve social problems and to accelerate prosperity through Indonesia digital society.
In making its vision a reality, CfDS owns numerous main products and activities consisting of research and development, dissemination and publication, and education and policy advocacy. Up until 2019, its research has outputted a variety of enriching products that accounts for 212 research outputs, such as Commentaries, Case Study Series, E-magazine, DigiTimes, Contribution to International Journals, Books and Monographs, Infographics, and Videographies. Moreover, 63 event-based activities have also become a platform for this research center to interact with more than 12.000 target audience.
As a multidisciplinary research institution, creating partnership with like-minded stakeholders is an important variable for the substance of CfDS’ outputs. For that reason, CfDS has been expanding its horizons through building trust and durable relations with up to 47 strategic partners. The backgrounds of these partners vary as this research institution believes on multistakeholderism; covering various aspects of the digital society. Non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, corporations, and local ministries have become some of CfDS partners in making sure that the advancement of technology can support all people of Indonesia, inclusively, to initiate major changes both at national and international levels.
Considering the considerable amount of positive outputs gained through partnership, CfDS is eager to expand its networks with prospective entities.
