From April 30 to May 1, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), in partnership with the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) UGM, hosted the 23rd Informal Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Seminar on Human Rights. This event continued the seminar series previously held in Denmark in 2025, aiming to foster mutual understanding and strengthen partnerships on human rights between Asian and European countries. Twenty-six participants from both continents attended, representing emerging policy and regulatory roles (53.85%), civil society and advocacy (30.77%), researchers and academics (11.54%), and industry practitioners (3.85%).
A notable milestone of the programme was the drafting of the “Yogyakarta Declaration of April 1st, 2026“, a collective pledge by young professionals asserting that human rights must remain the non-negotiable foundation of AI governance.
