Yogyakarta, November 27, 2023 – Digital transformation undeniably has myriad significant impacts on all sectors, specifically in the work industry. The worker demand in the industrial sector must be accompanied by the quality of the existing digital talent to create an inclusive work landscape. To address this, Center for Digital Society (CfDS) UGM, the Ministry of Communication and Information, Siberkreasi, and the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, have successfully presented the 2023 Digital Intelligence Course.

The Digital Intelligence Course (MKKD) aims to increase digital literacy and bridge the skills gap in the education landscape for the upcoming Indonesia Emas 2045. This year, MKKD has been held virtually since August with 4,645 registered participants from all around Indonesia, both from the academic institution and the public.

This year’s program was officially closed through a webinar entitled “Exploring Talent and Career Potential in the Digital Era,” presenting Eyla A. Maranny (Program Coordinator Fresh Graduate, DTS Ministry of Communication and Information RI)), Firya Q. Abisono (Communication Science Lecturer at UNS & Adjunct Researcher at CfDS), Muhammad Andriansa (Algorand Community Champion, Algorand Indonesia), and moderated by Iradat Wirid as Deputy Executive Secretary at CfDS UGM.

Addressing the quality of digital talent nowadays, it is essential to highlight the role of every stakeholder, specifically from the government. The Ministry of Communication and Information RI through its various programs, namely the National Digital Literacy Movement, Digital Talent Scholarship, and Digital Entrepreneurship Academy is endeavoring to develop the capability and the sense of competitiveness within Indonesia’s digital talent.

“Since 2018, the Ministry of Communication and Information has initiated programs and trainings for everyone to support digital transformation in Indonesia. We also actively engage with all parties to create a strong digital talent ecosystem. We hope this will open up wider opportunities for digital talents to be more competitive in the industrial sector,” said Eyla A. Maranny.

Muhammad Adriansa also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the industry and other pentahelix stakeholders in every program to address this issue. “Collaboration involving the industry, academic,  institution, and government will help expand the audience reach and impact of the program broadly and comprehensively,” said Andriansa.

All training and programs’ objectives aim to enhance the quality of digital talent in Indonesia. Firya Q. Abisono said that MKKD exists as an alternative platform for people to vigorously learn the digital skills needed today.

“MKKD is one of many ways to broaden new knowledge outside the classroom. All the key takeaways gained are believed to enrich participants’ career acceleration in the era of digital transformation,” said Firya.

Anggia, an undergraduate student at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan Bandung, who has participated in Digital Intelligence Course 2023: Digital Transformation and Election with Election Corner stated that all classes have successfully shaped her critical thinking in navigating this 2024 presidential election.

“What makes this class more interesting is all the material presented are very relevant and useful, the fact that it came from the tutors who are really experts in the field of politics,” said Nadia

On another occasion, Arga Pribadi Imawan as 2023 MKKD’s Project Officer also argued that digital literacy is a must-have skill for this upcoming 2024 presidential election. “All the learnings and key takeaways obtained from this program can contribute to help everyone in navigating harmful contents during the campaign election period,” Arga stated.

All the challenges and opportunities that come along with the digital transformation should be accompanied by digital skills and literacy to create an inclusive digital ecosystem. Through a multi-stakeholder collaboration, CfDS with its partner commits to accelerating the quality of every digital talent in Indonesia through MKKD every single year.
