Yogyakarta, May 9 – 19, 2023 – Center for Digital Society (CfDS) UGM, in collaboration with Meta and Hacktiv8, successfully organized the Meta Virtual Learning Academy with Digital Intelligence. The classes aimed to provide participants with understanding and practical skills in creating Augmented Reality (AR) effects using Meta Spark Studio and publishing AR filters on Instagram.
The classes spanned in several days, during which participants had the opportunity to learn about interesting topics such as Target Tracking on May 9, 2023, Plane Tracking on May 11, 2023, Hand and Face Tracking on May 16, 2023, and finally, Body Tracking on May 19, 2023. Each session was attended by enthusiastic participants and supported by experienced mentors and instructors.
The main mentor for the classes was Ajie Chandra, a Meta Spark mentor and expert in AR effects creation. He shared his extensive knowledge with the participants, helping them understand the practical steps in creating AR effects directly using Meta Spark Studio. Additionally, Dimas Surya, a Meta Spark instructor, alongside Ajie, guided and trained the participants hands-on during the learning sessions. The classes were facilitated by Nadya Olga Aletha from CfDS UGM.
The core of these virtual learning classes was to invite participants to explore and understand the practices of creating AR effects through a step-by-step method. By utilizing Meta Spark Studio, they were able to practically create engaging and creative AR filters. These AR filters could also be directly published on Instagram, providing participants with the opportunity to share their work with a wide audience.
The series of Meta Virtual Learning Academy with Digital Intelligence classes were successful thanks to the high enthusiasm and participation of the participants. Participants gained a deep understanding of using Meta Spark Studio in creating compelling AR effects. They also had the opportunity to interact directly with mentors and instructors, gaining valuable insights to further their exploration of these skills in the future.
CfDS, Meta, and Hacktiv8 are committed to continuously supporting similar initiatives and classes to promote the development of digital intelligence in Indonesia. This collaboration offers opportunities for the community to develop advanced technological abilities such as Augmented Reality. “Our hope is that through the implementation of this learning series, more individuals will be prepared to face the increasingly digital future,” concluded Dimas Surya, the main instructor of this class.
