Yogyakarta, October 19, 2017 – Millennial generation is a generation that is attached to all the usage and development of digital technology in everyday life. This creates its own characteristics for the millennial generation, one of which is likely to be close to innovation and rapid change. Being plus points as well as challenges when associated with the phenomenon of job search in the present. Millenial generation, who born between 1980 – 2000 is currently entering the period of productive work. It will be an advantage for Indonesia, because the large millennial population is a form of demographic bonus. But the problem will arise if the millenial population does not really understand what king of job opportunities are available in this digital age. The event, organized regularly by CfDS UGM, was attended by 200 participants from various campuses and departments. Participants were dominated by final students and fresh graduates who wanted to know the tips and tricks of job search opportunities in the digital era.

“Indonesia is entering the demographic bonus. Even Mr. Jokowi ensures that Indonesia will be the country’s 4th most economically strong. The problem is, do you work according to your potential or work because of that’s the only job that is available? We must be the person who determines the direction of the organization and the company. Well, people who do that, must have passion. It’s a competition. “Said Putra Nababan.

Putra Nababan in his presentation explained the importance of Indonesia talent to have passion and persistence to be able to survive in career. Certain abilities such as readiness for change, collaboration, and teamwork are needed to deal with tight competition in the present. In addition, careful planning is also required before realizing the ideas that have been prepared.

“Many people who want to start business always think about the technical aspect, although the vision is the most important, and to determine that vision is not enough just a month and two months, could be six months more. Afterwards, the technical matters are easy to do if the vision is clear.” Putra answered question from participant.

Putra Nababan’s experience in passion through the phases from conventional to digital job search today drives him to develop talent management platform called idTalent. In this platform, Putra stressed the importancee of evaluation and self-development before entering the real working phase.

This 2 hours Digitalk discussion ran dynamically because of the natural interaction between Putra and the participants. At the end of the discussion session, Putra delivered his message and hope to millennial generations, especially in the dilemma of job search in the digital era.
