Learning Smart Village, Representatives from Bojonegoro Villages Visited Dlingo

On August 5th, Center for Digital Society and some representatives from Villages in Bojonegoro Regency of East Java(Dolokgede, Mulyorejo, Kacangan, Sendangrejo) visited Dlingo, a Village located in Bantul Regency. Dlingo Village is one of the villages in Indonesia that is currently transforming itself into a smart village. The purpose of this visit is to have Dlingo Village share their experiences. as well as an educational visit for the representatives of Bojonegoro who also want to develop their villages into smart villages.

The discussion took place at the Village hall, and was opened by Mr. Bahrun Wardoyo, the Dlingo Village chief who explained the profile of Dlingo and a glimpse of its history. He mentioned, “Dlingo used to lag behind.”

The lagged condition of the village encouraged Mr. Bahrun to develop his village. There are three important things that were underlined. First, most villages have major problems in human resources. To overcome the problem, villages must provide some places to increase the productivity of the locals so that they are encouraged to stay and participate in developing their own village. Second, instead of doing it alone, the chiefs have to involve the people of the village. Third, utilizing the digital technology to increase the performance of services is also important. This is already implemented on the online mail service in the Dlingo village’s website that can be accessed by all villagers.

“Everything does not come instantly, everything needs process. But the most important thing is to have strong commitment and cooperation,” he continued.
