[Press Release] CfDS UGM Initiates the 9th Proliner for College Students, a Commitment to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Indonesia | Proliner #9

Yogyakarta, (9/11/23) – As a commitment to enhance the quality of digital literacy across Indonesia, the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) UGM is proud to present the 9th Proliner, a series of Digital Literacy Programs for college students. This Training of Trainer (ToT) program excels exclusively for college students who are about to conduct the mandatory community service program (in Indonesia: Kuliah Kerja Nyata; KKN). Proliner was held virtually on October 8-9 and featured a comprehensive set of materials for its participants for free.

On its first day, the class was provided with materials by Rizka Herdiani (Research Officer at CfDS), who focused on Digital Financial Literacy. Her presentation delved into the risks and utilization of the financial sector in digital scope. In the next session, Alferdo Putrawidjoyo (Research Officer at CfDS) also delivered a presentation on Personal Data Security. The discussion aimed to enhance public awareness regarding the significance of safeguarding personal data on the Internet.

On the second day, the session commenced with Perdana Karim, who discussed the topic of Misinformation in the Climate Crisis, emphasizing its urgency for local communities. The session was then concluded by Noel Silalah, who presented his material on Digital Literacy in Elections.

Ever since its inception in 2020, Proliner has been involved with professional trainers and over 3000 university students across Indonesia, collaborating to make a significant impact in the current digital transformation.

“Proliner is a commitment from us to elevate the digital literacy index in Indonesia, aligning with the ongoing developments in digital technology,” stated Iradat Wirid, Deputy Executive Secretary at CfDS UGM.

As an agent of change, students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) undertake community service initiatives to create a positive impact in society. Furthermore, students immerse themselves with the locals, submitting themself to contribute through new ideas and innovations, significantly enhancing digital literacy and fostering a secure and inclusive digital ecosystem.

“Through Proliner, it is expected that all learning materials will help me and other participants to contribute and advocate a change in embracing today’s digital transformation,” expressed a participant from Yogyakarta State University.

CfDS UGM through Proliner is committed to consistently offering a diverse range of relevant topics and materials each year. Ever since 2020, the number of participants has shown a significant increase, with the total number reaching 950 students from various universities across Indonesia. This reflects a shared commitment from various stakeholders, especially students, to contribute to educating and expediting digital transformation in Indonesia.
